Temperature and corrosion

Temperature capability
Inconel 718Retains high mechanical strength in elevated-temperature service; commonly evaluated around applications up to approximately 700 C.
Inconel 625Broad cryogenic-to-elevated-temperature capability; the governing fastener specification and service environment set the allowable limit.
Hastelloy C-276Temperature suitability depends strongly on the process medium; selection is driven by corrosion conditions before a general thermal limit is assigned.
Corrosion characteristics
Inconel 718Good general corrosion and oxidation resistance, selected primarily where high strength and thermal stability are required together.
Inconel 625Strong resistance to seawater, chlorides and many industrial corrosive media, with useful oxidation resistance.
Hastelloy C-276Exceptional resistance to a wide range of oxidizing and reducing acids, chlorides, pitting and crevice attack.
